At Marymount University can you watch Arlington’s “Bravest” (Fire Department) and “Finest” (Police Department) face off against each on the court. Police officers and fire fighters will battle each other for the 3rd straight year, this time to raise money for Relay for Life of Arlington. Relay for Life is a program of the American Cancer Society that provides funds for cancer research, promotes survivorship, and increases cancer awareness in the community.
The event begins at 5:00 pm with a job fair and family entertainment including exhibits and face-painting. At 6:00, members of the Arlington County Sheriff’s Department will compete against a team of Marymount University faculty members. There will be more entertainment from 7:30 to 8:00, including the Marymount University Dance Team and middle school cheerleaders, followed by the main event at 8:00 pm. Halftime of the Bravest v. Finest game will feature a free-throw shooting contest between Police Chief M. Douglas Scott and Fire Chief James Schwartz.
Admission and parking are free; donations will be accepted at the door and throughout the arena during the game. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a 2007 Dodge Nitro which will be awarded in June at a Relay for Life event. Come out and support Arlington’s hometown heroes as they compete for a worthy cause!
