The IBIS Chamber Music Society
The IBIS Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce that it is moving north in its second season, and will be performing 2 of their season programs in the Church at Clarendon, conveniently located right across from the Clarendon Metro.
Founded by Lyon Park residents Joseph Scheer (concertmaster of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra) and Susan Robinson (principal harp of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra), Joe and Susan are joined by colleagues from the Kennedy Center Orchestra on violin, viola, cello and flute. IBIS presents concerts that feature a unique variety of music and a friendly approach to music-making. IBIS has been praised by the Washington Post as 'compelling' and the St. Petersburg Times appreciated the "...refreshing mix of music, well-played and fetchingly presented." All concerts are free and suitable for older children.
In October, IIBIS presents an exciting program entitled 'IBIS At the Movies'. Think of these iconic cinematic moments: the love theme from Zefferelli's Romeo and Juliet, Psycho's shrieking violins, the March of the Charioteers from Ben Hur, the menacing approach of the great white shark in Jaws. The composers of these scores also wrote great music for the concert hall, which IBIS will present on Friday, October 17, at 7:30 pm in the Lyon Park Community Center, and Sunday October 19 at 4 pm, in the sanctuary at the Church at Clarendon.
